Snow day in North Carolina

I’m still here, but I’m still sick… This has not been the best week. It’s been pretty rough, actually. I told you in my video on Sunday that I was getting a cold. That was actually the best day this week.
Monday was hard. I was able to do a little work from home, but I spent the day on the couch with a big pile of tissues growing on the table next to me. I was able to drag myself to class that evening, but only because we hadn’t had class for two weeks since my professor was out of town one week and we got snowed out the second. And two days later, I’m still sitting here with a growing pile of tissues and funny, deep voice.

So for those of you who aren’t from the South, North Carolina in particular, let me explain a little about the weather here: It’s crazy!
On Monday this week, it was 61-degrees. The following two days have not gotten above freezing. Yesterday evening a snow and ice storm came through and the area has been effectively shut down. Schools have been closed for two days and are closed again tomorrow since we don’t have the equipment here to keep the roads cleared and safe.
But our little snow storm has given me the excuse I needed to spend a little more time working from home while I try to get over this cold. And it’s coming along… slowly. I’m still pretty stuffed up, but I’m feeling a little better each day. I guess this is just my body’s way of telling me to slow down a little. I am very thankful that I have only dealt with a minor fever during this and haven’t had any non-cold issues pop up. I’m praying that my little immune system army stays in check and doesn’t get too excited.
This has really put on my mind all of the others out there who are dealing with symptoms that are a lot more severe than a silly cold. For all of you out there, and a couple of friends of mine in particular, know that I am thinking about it and praying for you and hoping that you are feeling so much better soon! You are some of the strongest people I have ever known. Keep fighting!

Hi Stephanie! I know that this blast of wintry weather in NC has been a bit of a shocker. My sister and her husband live in Fayetteville, and I have nieces and nephews in Raleigh and Charlotte (respectively). They basically said the same thing about the weather: It’s crazy!
As far as feeling sick, my body has been fighting something off for a few days. I’ve been trying to get more rest and take extra vitamins and supplements. So far, so good! *fingers crossed* I really hope you feel better soon!
