It’s hard for me to believe that October is here already. October is sort of the beginning of the end of the year for me. Things are officially winding down and soon enough, 2013 is going to be behind us.
I really do love this time of year. It’s the time of year that always reminds me what I love most about North Carolina. I love the cool weather that starts sneaking in. I love wearing scarves and boots and coats. I love eating and drinking things with pumpkin in them. I love the colors that the leaves change. I love having a little fun with Halloween at the end of the month.
Beyond all of that, I’ve been thinking about what I hope to accomplish this month. I’m fairly disappointed with how I juggled everything last month (or how I DIDN’T juggle things). I need to be better at prioritizing this month and being an efficient planner. I think that was the biggest issue that I ran into last month is that I didn’t plan ahead and I didn’t have the time to figure things out as I went. So I’m already doing better at that this month.
I actually have something somewhat significant planned for this month that I’m hoping to get into more in the next couple of days, so hopefully I have planned well enough so far to get that out. Stay tuned!
Also, this Saturday is World Ostomy Day, which is essentially a day to create awareness about ostomies and bring the conversation a little more to the forefront. It’ll be great to see the community come together this weekend to talk about it.
But there’s a lot more going on in the coming weeks: a big paper due in two weeks, on top of the normal class load each week, another follow-up with my surgeon (hopefully the last!), two weddings – both of which are out-of-town. It’s going to be a little crazy.
So that pretty much wraps up my goals. I’m hoping to stay ahead of things this month and not falling behind on school work or advocacy or housework (eesh…). This has been a really big adjustment throwing school into the mix, but I’m really glad that I’m doing it. Now, I just have to figure out how to do everything else…
