I’m a very independent person. I don’t like having to ask for help (unless it involves killing a spider or reaching something on the top shelf.) So I’m having a bit of a difficult time with the idea of needing help in the coming weeks.
I’m always one of those who says, “No, I’ll be fine,” when people offer, well, pretty much anything. I don’t like feeling that I’m a burden to anyone. But at the same time, I know when I’m on the other side and someone I care about is needing help, I WANT to be able to do something. It makes me feel better knowing they’re taken care of and have one less thing to worry about.
So I’m working on it. Trying to be more open to accepting help and not feeling like a jerk when I say, “Sure you can bring me dinner,” or feeling like a slacker when my mom’s cleaning my kitchen and I’m sitting on the couch.
That being said, if you were wanting to do anything (and please don’t feel obligated, your thoughts and prayers are what’s most important), you could contact my mom, Linda at caringforstephanie@gmail.com.
