Time for an update

Wow, March is looking a little sad on The Stolen Colon. I hate that I’ve felt so overwhelmed with other things going on in my life that I haven’t had the time to invest in my site that I usually have. But no more. Of all the things in my life, this is one of the most important to me and one of the things that keeps me sane in the midst of everything else. I don’t want it taking a back seat any more. And now, it’s time for:

I really don’t have much of an update today. Training-wise, things are about the same. I’m still dealing with a good bit of pain that gives me issues even walking at times. I was actually feeling better yesterday and thought I could handle a short run. I thought maybe a short half-hour run and not worry about pace. I felt OK at first, but about a half-mile in, I really started to feel it. A lot of pain in my legs and they felt like I had cinderblocks on my feet. It was a little bit of a struggle just to get home and I only ended up going 1.5 miles.
I thought I’d try something else today and went to the gym this morning for a ride on the stationary bike. I kept it short, only about 35 minutes, but felt pretty good. I’m thinking about trying to elliptical out, too, and seeing how that feels. If that goes well, I can at least keep up my cardio for the time being.
I’ve been doing alright with the water drinking. Definitely getting down more than I was before, but not consistently doing the amount I want… and need. I am going to keep working on that.
And I’m still having to keep on track with the fundraising aspect of this race. I definitely have not been focused on it and really just haven’t done much with it. But I’m working on some projects right now. I met with one of my mentees, Kate (check out her awesome blog about training HERE), and we are working on an event, so hopefully I will have some information on that in the coming weeks. I am also selling tickets to the Belk Charity Day Sale, so if you’re in the Raleigh area and want a ticket/information, send me a message and I’ll tell you all about it.
It’s time to focus on all of this now. It’s going to sneak up on me really fast, otherwise.

Have you tired buying a nice fancy water bottle to help you drink more? I have two fun glass water bottles (Lifefactory) that I use everyday – one for work and one at home. I carry them around with me EVERYWHERE and it really helps me to get my water in. I also do not drink anything else but water. Giving up any kind of soda completely has made it easier to drink water. Good luck!

I will have to look up those water bottles. I usually just keep a plain old plastic water bottle with me all day because it’s so easy to carry around. And I agree, I’ve given up everything else and that has helped… well, except for coffee… and I probably should give that one up to… I don’t like that idea 🙂
