I am on my way to New York City! Woo hoo!
I have been looking forward to this trip for a while. My friend Rebecca has been trying to get me up for a visit pretty much ever since we met. But it’s hard these days to find the time to travel, especially when you want to make it a long weekend. I made a comment a few months back about how disappointed I was that I wouldn’t be able to go to the Intense Intestines Foundation’s event that’s going on this weekend and Rebecca made the point that it would be the perfect time for me to visit. I had to agree.
What is really exciting is all of the wonderful people I am going to be able to see! I’m looking forward to spending the weekend with Rebecca and her husband Dan. We’ve been talking for weeks about what we’d like to do while I’m there. Plus, my little sister is living in the City now going to grad school at NYU, (I know, little miss smartypants) so we have plans to meet up tomorrow. And my cousin is also in the City, so I’ll get to see her, too!
And of course, this is also going to be an amazing opportunity for me to meet for the first time in person some people who I have long respected in the IBD world – yes, I’m talking about you Frank Garufi Jr. and Marisa Troy! And some others that I’ve gotten to know online more recently but haven’t had the opportunity to meet in person.
So needless to say, I am pretty stoked for what lies ahead this weekend and I can’t wait to tell you all about it when I get home. I’ll be posting on twitter and instagram as I go, so if you want to check in, I’ll be using the hashtag #stephinnyc. Here we go!
