Home sweet home

Cliche title, I know, but it really is how I feel today.
I was discharged this morning and able to make it home early this afternoon. I’ve had times when I’ve been away much longer, even for hospital stays, but I don’t know if it’s ever felt this good to be back in my own home.
home sweet homeIt was a little bit of a rough morning, dealing with some pain and nausea, but as the day has gone on I’ve definitely been feeling better. Being discharged from the hospital is one of the more frustrating things you can deal with in your life. You’re ready to go, your doctors tell you you’re ready to go, but you have to sit around and wait for the paperwork to go through and your prescriptions to be written up and for the people to come and actually escort you out of the hospital.
They told me at about 6:15 this morning that I was being discharged, but we didn’t actually leave until probably 12:30 in the afternoon.
So now, I’m taking it easy. Catching up on some TV on the couch, enjoying some time outside on the back deck in the sun and now getting ready to enjoy some dinner together with Jarrod.
I’m now looking forward to getting a good night’s sleep and starting over tomorrow as my first real day in a new life. I think soon I’ll have a much better idea of how things are going to be from here on out.

Congratulations on being home! I hope you find that this surgery is leading the way for you to feel much better. I’ll never forget when I had ileostomy surgery and I commented that I already felt better, my father said with a smile, “It’s amazing what removing a diseased organ can do.” It’s true! I wish you all the best, and hope you know that you are not alone.
