I had the incredible pleasure this past weekend of standing next to one of my great friends and now sister-in-law as she became the newest Mrs. Hughes.
Jarrod’s brother JT and his wife Alysia tied the knot and Saturday and we had the honor of being a part of the whole thing. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was a lot of fun, just as it should be.
But as I was running around doing my bridesmaidly duties and standing at the altar as they said their vows, I couldn’t help but think of how blessed I am to have been able to do that and to do it without having to worry if I was going to need to make a bathroom run. The thought didn’t even cross my mind and that is the biggest blessing of all.
When I think back at other weddings I have taken part in prior to my ostomy, that was a concern. While I always tried hard to not let it ruin my day and thankfully it never became a major issue, it still was a worry in the back of my mind. But Saturday, I was able to stand proud, run around like a crazy person trying to get everything done, and dance the night away without any worries nagging at me.
This is my happily ever after..
