Thank you all for your votes in my poll for my new blog series. And per your input….
My hope for this series is to discuss openly and honestly what it’s like living your day-to-day life with an ostomy. Although you really can live a very “normal” life while having an ostomy, there are still a number of things you have to consider every day. Whether it be eating, dressing or travelling, you have to change some of the things you and do and the way you think when you have a bag hanging off of your stomach.
But the thing to also realize, is even though you are having to change some things, there really is a way to make it all work. I can’t think of anything that I’ve wanted to do but haven’t been able to since I have an ostomy. I’m excited to dive into some of these topics and perhaps bring in some other ostomy experts on certain topics.

Loving the blog.
October 25, 2015 at 1:27 pmI love reading your posts, they inspire me so much. I’m a 47 yr old guy from Surrey, England. I had my colostomy in September 2012, This was done to try and heal an anal abscess I’ve had since 2006. Unfortunately due to the location of the wound, plus scarring etc, I have been housebound since 2009 as I find walking very painful, I cannot sit, and standing makes me dizzy after a while because of all the pain.I have had over 90 surgeries all told, using different methods, and am onto one a month now.present day and I have a very major problem with mucus from the rectum, which also irritates the bowel that’s left.and I have IBS. I am now awaiting a proctectomy to relieve the mucus situation and hopefully make the rest of bowel comfortable, date to be confirmed. Anyway I admire all you have done and look forward to speaking again. Kind regards, Dave
