The most wonderful time of the year

I can’t believe we are actually less than 7 weeks away from Christmas Day. It snuck up on me this year. As I’ve spoken about recently, I have had a lot on my plate recently. Between a full-time job, training for a half-marathon and studying to the GRE, I hardly had time to notice that the holidays are here. I didn’t even get my Halloween decorations up until the weekend before.

Now, decorations are going up in public places, holiday commercials are all over the TV and Starbucks has already brought out the red cups. I am hoping and praying that I am able to relax and enjoy this season. Last year, I felt as if I missed Christmas. I’m not sure exactly what it was, but I wasn’t as into it as I usually am. Maybe it’s because I was feeling so poorly at the time. Or maybe it’s because we never really had any winter weather last year. But this year, I hope to really enjoy Christmas.
I already feel very behind. I haven’t ordered any Christmas cards. I was hoping to have a lot of my shopping already done (I have a little, but not as much as I would like). Fortunately, by the time Christmas is in full swing, the GRE will be over with and so will my half-marathon. However, I will still be working on a grad school application and continuing to train for a full-length sprint triathlon next year. However, I will still have some time to slow down… hopefully.
I am looking forward to celebrating this year and not feeling run down early on in the night. I’m hoping for snow for the first time since I got into the news business. Which also makes me very excited since I will have both Thanksgiving and Christmas day off. This really is a magical season.
