Hope for Aurora

Aurora Colorado movie theater shooting hair flowers encouragement hopeI have written about my best friend Reagan on here before. One of the things I have always admired about her is her heart for those who are hurting. She is very attune to when someone is going through a hard time and always thinks of the little things that she can do to help them get through it. Her event going on this weekend is not any different.
Most of us were saddened and sympathetic after the movie theater shooting in Aurora, CO, in July, but Reagan wanted to do something to show her support for the families of the victims. She put together an event that is going to take place this Saturday at Sola Coffee on Lead Mine Rd in Raleigh.
The event is a part of her Glory Tree Flowers business that makes beautiful hair flowers. The event is going to be drop-in style where people can stop by any time between 5-9 p.m. and make a hair flower, write an encouraging note, and fill boxes for each of the families.
Her idea already touched the heart of one of the city councilmen in Aurora, who contacted the city of Raleigh and ended up getting noticed by N&O columnist Barry Saunders who wrote a lovely piece about the event. (Read it here.)
I’m so excited to be taking part in this with Reagan. The idea is to show our support and compassion for the victims’ families and provide a small reminder of the beauty that is still in the world. If you are in the Raleigh area, please stop by for a few minutes to leave some encouragement and let the families in Aurora know that they are not forgotten.
