A much-needed day off

There is a benefit to working on Saturday and that is having a day off during the week. And this week is especially nice because I worked last Saturday, so I had today off, work on Friday, then have a full two day weekend right after that.
And I’ve been needing a little break. The past few weeks have been so crazy. I spent most of the month of November preparing to take the GRE and to run my half-marathon. Now both of those are over and I’m glad for some time to relax and recoup. The race was just the weekend before this past one and I came back to work from Tuesday through Saturday, with only one day off, and of course, it was jam-packed with getting ready for Christmas.
So today was a bit of a “mental health” day. I had some errands to run, so I got those done this morning and was able to miss (most) of the crazy Christmas traffic. I got back out of my bike for the first time in what seems like forever. It felt good to ride again. However, my fingers and toes still felt pretty frostbitten, even with all of my layers of clothing. I’m going to have to get used to this cold weather riding.
After doing some major cleaning around the house, I treated myself to a pedicure. It was nice to have a little pampering. And now I’m not so embarrassed for someone to see my feet because they had gotten a little rough looking from my running.

And to end out the night, I got to attend a networking event and met some really great people. Plus, this is what I ended up with at the end of the night!
I’m glad to have had this time to recharge a little as we move into Christmas, at which point it is going to get very busy again. So now, I’m going to go dig into that and call it a night. The perfect end to a perfect day.
